Højerup Church

Art Description

By P. C. Skovgaard. Skovgaard painted the Danish landscape like it was the only landscape worth painting. The church at Højerup has been slowly losing ground to the sea for centuries and part of its choir collapsed into the cliff in 1928. He painted it before any of that happened, which makes it feel like standing at the edge of something without knowing it yet.
